COUNTIES MANUKAU SECONDARY SCHOOLS 2023

In 2022 we had 23 schools join us, with 90 teams participating.   We saw a significant increase in participation across all grades.  Overall, there was 34% increase in secondary school participation.

As a result of the growth in the Mixed grades over the previous two years, Papakura Netball Centre entered a mixed team into the EnviroWaste North Island Junior Netball Championships for the very first time.

It was a challenging yet rewarding oppourtunity for learners/players to transition into representative level netball. We were very lucky to wrap an enormous amount of support around our newly formed mixed team with a very knowledgeable management team who worked tirelessly to prepare the team in just 6 weeks.

The team played a total of 12x games over 3 days, some of which were played in torrential rain, wet socks, and soaked uniforms.  Conquering all that the weather put in front of them the team went into the Grand Final with one goal: To play for each other, and to leave it all out on court. It was a nail-biting grand final, with the rain gusting sideways, and players using what they could to dry their eyes.  In the end the PNC U16 Mixed Team came out on top with a final score of 24-25 to become the 2023 U16 Mixed Champions! Congratulations to our U16 Mixed Team!

We would also like to acknowledge all the teams who went on from the 2022 Counties Manukau Secondary Schools Competition to UNISS.  It was a pleasure to see so many schools who participate here weekly take the court at the annual UNISS competition.  It was equally pleasing to see a number of our umpires officiate and receive higher honours at UNISS.   We hope that our competition continues to provide you with the opportunity to prepare for the next UNISS competition.

As we prepare for the 2023 season, this is something we want to continue to provide our learners/players.  Opportunities to participate, and the opportunity to represent your school, centre, and community.

We cant wait to host you all for our 2023 season!

If you require any support, or have any questions please dont hesitate to contact the PNC Office on 092950176 or admin@papakuranetball.org.nz
